Mary spent 11 years teaching life sciences at Belton High School in Belton, TX and Ellison High School in Killeen, TX. Her teaching experience includes Biology (Pre-AP, Inclusion, and On-Level), AP Biology, Zoology, and Anatomy & Physiology (Honors and On-Level). Mary served as a Professional Technology Educator with PASCO Scientific for 5 years and spent her summers training AP teachers how to use sensor-ware to support inquiry science in the classroom. In June 2017, Mary accepted a position as the Kosmos Energy STEM Teacher Institute Secondary Coordinator at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. In May 2018, Mary was promoted to her current position with the Perot Museum.
Mary’s favorite part of the Perot Museum is phylogenetic tree mobile in the Discovering Life Hall. Her goal when facilitating professional learning events is to create innovative learning experiences that excite and empower teachers to carry out effective, engaging, and easily-implemented cross-curricular STEM lessons with students.
Mary's current educational interests include inquiry-based methods, literacy in science, and edutech.
