Using Cooperative Learning (CL) Strategies in the science classroom encourages a positive Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) environment for all students. Through CL, educators can address the social-emotional learning needs by focusing on the affective, as well as the cognitive domain for all students. This is especially important for At Risk, ELL, SPED and GT students. The topics presented will be based on educational research that states, "Students working in a cooperative learning environment have demonstrated improved learning, increased motivation and improved performance compared to students who work in just "groups". Using CL structures, students will support one another while creating a positive environment, which encourages critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity needed for developing higher-level scientific investigation, questioning and reasoning skills. Using a breakout box activity (Periodic Table) and CL structures, educators can better engage students in their own learning. **CLASS SIZE LIMIT OF 30 due to the hands-on materials.**
